Platform for Research through the Arts and Sciences

The West Pole Archive is a body of texts, 16mm films, photographs and objects collected and created by artist researcher and filmmaker Olya Korsun during her expedition to the West Pole – a speculative landscape spread on top of unsuspicious Netherlands.

The heroine travels with no map or plan through the landscape full of chance encounters, bizarre creatures, and apparitions. Every other day brings her more bewilderment: shadows of dinosaurs and singing dunes, tourists hunting for worms, fierce winds bending metal, nature-blindness and mysterious cows floating in the darkness. She moves together with the magnetic poles of Earth which is trembling in a permanent wobble and the constants of geographical knowledge start to oscillate as well.
