Arts & Ecologies
At a time of unprecedented planet-changing, ecological developments it is imperative to research complex, global processes with new approaches and methodologies. Within the research cluster of Arts & Ecologies, ARIAS brings together researchers interested in topics such as climate change, planetary pollution, extinction of species, irreversible destruction, material transfer and transformations, environmental migration, social inequality and capitalism in relation to sustainability and eco-justice. With this research cluster ARIAS aims to foster research initiatives that propose different perspectives and collaborations to examine these alarming and intricately entangled, systemic phenomena. Particularly, ARIAS is interested in strengthening research partnerships that incorporate artistic, speculative and imaginative approaches.
Within the ARIAS network there are a number of nodes of expertise in the research domain of arts & ecologies, including, but not limited to: Environmental Humanities Center (VU), Hybrid Forms Lab (VU), Geomedia research network (UvA), Sustainism Lab (AHK), Lectoraat Visual Methodologies (HvA)
