Ghosts in the Machine | Artificial Worlds x GHOST / Asa Horvitz
The ARIAS Artificial Worlds group is proud to invite you to “Ghosts in the Machine”, a symposium to reflect on the role of AI in the arts and research.
On the occasion of the Amsterdam debut of ARIAS Artificial Worlds member Asa Horvitz’s performance, “GHOST,” this symposium addresses the crossroads between artificial intelligence, arts, and research. Organised around two round tables, we will bring together people who operate at the intersection of theory and practice. To round off the evening, we will enjoy a special performance of the music from GHOST followed by drinks.
The questions leading the discussions are:
How is AI redefining the boundaries of creative expression, and what implications does this shift have for contemporary and future artistic practices?
As AI algorithms increasingly engage in generating art, how do we navigate the intricate balance between human intuition and machine precision in the creative process?
In what ways can AI augment artistic research methodologies, and how might this convergence lead to novel paradigms of understanding and interpreting art?
As artists and researchers collaborate with AI, how does the discourse on authorship and originality evolve, and what ethical considerations arise from these new collaborative dynamics?
Join us for a thought-provoking afternoon exploring how machine intelligence intertwines with contemporary artistic research practices. Artists, researchers, and anyone interested in the interplay of AI and art is welcome.
